Roy Moore Campaign Casts Alabama Race as Referendum on Trump

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The campaign of Roy Moore, the Republican candidate for U.S. senator in Alabama who has been accused of sexual misconduct, appealed on Sunday to President Donald Trump's supporters, saying a vote for Moore would be a vote for Trump's agenda.

In the final days before Tuesday's special election, opinion polls show a tight race between Moore, a 70-year-old conservative Christian and former state judge, and Democrat Doug Jones, a 63-year-old former U.




The Northeast Braces For Snow From the North And South

 
Areas of the Northeast which have already seen the first major snowfall of the 2017 season over the weekend look set to receive a second round of snow and ice with a series of clipper storms making their way into the Great Lakes and further east into the first few days of the working week.
 
The continuing trend for the jet stream to remain entrenched over the southern states in the central and eastern portion of the country will see cooler temperatures continue to fall across the majority of the eastern half of the nation.

California Wildfire Rages Toward Scenic Coastal Communities

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (Reuters) - A massive California wildfire that has already destroyed nearly 800 structures scorched another 56,000 acres on Sunday, making it the fifth largest such blaze in recorded state history, as it ran toward picturesque coastal cities.But fire officials said as darkness fell that with the hot, dry Santa Ana winds not as fierce as expected, crews had been successful in building some fire lines between the flames and the towns of Montecito and Carpinteria.




'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Premieres with Tribute to Late Carrie Fisher

Los Angeles (Reuters) - The galaxy far, far away was brought to life in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday for the world premiere of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" where the anticipated first screening was dedicated to the franchise's late star, Carrie Fisher.

"I want to dedicate tonight to Carrie, who is up there right now flipping me the bird, saying 'Damn it Rian, don't you dare make this night a solemn tribute,'" the film's writer-director Rian Johnson said as he introduced the screening.
