Twenty-two States Ask U.S. Appeals Court to Reinstate 'Net Neutrality' Rules

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A group of 22 state attorneys general and the District of Columbia late Monday asked a U.S. appeals court to reinstate the Obama administration's 2015 landmark net neutrality rules and reject the Trump administration's efforts to preempt states from imposing their own rules guaranteeing an open internet.

Afghan Forces Kill Insurgents after Mortars Hit Kabul


KABUL (Reuters) - Afghan forces killed four out of nine insurgents who launched mortar attacks on Tuesday on areas around the presidential palace and diplomatic district of Kabul, two officials said.

They attacked just as President Ashraf Ghani was delivering a speech marking the beginning of Eid al-Adha, a three-day religious festival.

Colorado Man Charged in Murder of Family Claims Wife Strangled Kids

DENVER (Reuters) - A Colorado oil worker charged with murdering his pregnant wife and two young daughters told investigators following his arrest that he killed his wife after she strangled the children, court documents showed on Monday.

Chris Watts, who had been involved in an extramarital affair with a co-worker, said during a police interrogation that his wife, Shannan, strangled their daughters Bella and Celeste after he announced that he wanted a separation, according to an arrest affidavit filed in the sensational case.

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Francis will meet victims of clergy sexual abuse during his visit to Ireland this weekend, the Vatican said on Tuesday.

Spokesman Greg Burke told reporters at a briefing on the Aug. 25-26 trip that the meeting will not be announced until after it is over and that it will be up to the victims if they want to speak afterwards.
