Northeastern Flooding Expected as the Plains See Severe Weather
 
Showers and storms are focusing their power on the Eastern third of the U.S. once again with heavy rain affecting the Northeast through Florida and the Southeast.
 
An area of severe weather will be seen covering a large area of the Central Rockies and Plains with strong winds and hail expected.

FREDERICK, Colo. (Reuters) - Mourners gathered on Friday in a small Colorado town where the remains of a pregnant woman and her two young daughters were reportedly discovered in oil storage tanks the day after police took the father into custody for their murders.




Former U.N. Chief and Nobel Peace Laureate Kofi Annan Dies

 

ACCRA/GENEVA (Reuters) - Former United Nations Secretary-General and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kofi Annan died on Saturday at the age of 80, his foundation said.

Annan, a Ghanaian national, died in hospital in Bern, Switzerland, in the early hours, his close associates said.

In Geneva, the Kofi Annan Foundation announced his peaceful death with "immense sadness" after a short undisclosed illness, saying he was surrounded in his last days by his second wife Nane and children Ama, Kojo and Nina.

U.S. Special Counsel Recommends 6 Months in Prison for Papadopoulos

 

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Special Counsel Robert Mueller recommended in a court filing on Friday that a judge sentence former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos to up to six months in prison for lying to federal agents investigating whether Russia interfered in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Papadopoulos pleaded guilty in October to lying to FBI agents and is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept.
