Disaster Agency Says 100 People Killed in Floods Across 10 States

 

ABUJA (Reuters) - Floods in much of central and southern Nigeria have killed 100 people across 10 states, the country's emergency and disasters agency said on Monday.

Such flooding tends to occur every year in the rainy season, exacerbated by poor infrastructure and lack of planning to protect against inundation, but this year the destruction has been the worst since 2012.




Man Charged after Golfer Found Dead on Iowa Golf Course

 

(Reuters) - Police in the United States have charged a homeless man with the murder of Celia Barquin Arozamena on Tuesday, a day after the Spanish amateur golfing champion was found dead on a golf course in Iowa.

Barquin, 22, won the European Ladies' Amateur championship in July and was studying civil engineering at Iowa state university.
