Three Infants, Two Adults Stabbed at New York City Daycare Center

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A female worker stabbed three babies at a home-based daycare center in New York City on Friday before slashing her own wrists and being taken into custody, police said.

The unidentified woman, who also stabbed two adults in the predawn incident in the borough of Queens, was in stable condition, Juanita Holmes, assistant chief of patrol for the New York City Police Department, said at a news conference.




Flooding on the Horizon for South Carolina, a Week after Florence

KINSTON, N.C. (Reuters) - Residents in Georgetown County, South Carolina, where five rivers flow into the ocean, will prepare on Friday for a deluge of water in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence, which has killed more than 40 people.

Lying on Atlantic Ocean between Myrtle Beach and Charleston, the county of about 60,000 people is one of several areas across the Carolinas waiting anxiously for rivers to crest, a week after Florence dumped some three feet of rain in the region.




Five Shot, Including a girl, 8, in Syracuse, New York

 

(Reuters) - Five people were shot, including an eight-year-old girl, in Syracuse, New York on Thursday, the city's police chief said.

Police responded to a shooting in the city in upstate New York shortly after 9 p.m. local time, the department said in a statement posted on Twitter by a producer for National Public Radio.

Female Shooter Kills Three Near Baltimore

The Harford County Sheriff in Maryland has confirmed that a woman is in critical condition after she reportedly stormed into a retail warehouse and used a handgun to kill three workers and injure many others.
 
On Thursday morning, FBI agents from Baltimore were deployed to the scene for assistance; a motive has not been established.
