U.S. Judicial Council Tosses Misconduct Claims Against Kavanaugh

By Andrew Chung

(Reuters) - Scores of complaints accusing U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of improperly conducting himself during his contentious Senate confirmation process have been thrown out by a panel of eight federal judges.

The judges said the complaints of misconduct, including accusations that Kavanaugh made false, unduly partisan and disrespectful statements to senators, must be dismissed because he has been confirmed to the Supreme Court and the federal law governing judicial conduct applies only to lower court judges.

Penny Marshall, Director and TV's 'Laverne,' Dead at 75

By Will Dunham

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Penny Marshall, who played an endearingly graceless character with a thick Bronx accent in U.S. television's "Laverne & Shirley" before becoming a pioneering film director with hits including "Big" and "A League of Their Own," has died at 75, her publicist said on Tuesday.

Marshall died of complications of diabetes Monday at her home in Hollywood Hills, California, her publicist, Michelle Bega said in a phone interview.

Judge Delays Sentencing for Former Trump Adviser Flynn

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A federal judge delayed sentencing on Tuesday for President Donald Trump's former national security adviser Michael Flynn in a case that stemmed from an investigation of possible collusion between Trump's campaign and Russia in the run up to the 2016 presidential election.

Flynn's lawyers asked Judge Emmet Sullivan for a continuance that would allow Flynn to complete his cooperation in the Russia probe being led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

U.S. President Risks Government Shutdown as Well as Impeachment

As the holidays get closer, the legal and administrative noose around United States President Donald Trump is getting tighter.

On Monday, newspapers around the world published a "cheat sheet" of legal matters Trump will face in 2019; while many publications listed up to 17 issues, the following six stand out:

1 - Collusion with Kremlin operatives

2 - Abuse of power through illegal enrichment

3 - Misuse of inauguration ceremonial funds

4 - Obstruction of justice

5 - Misuse of Trump Foundation funds

6 - Federal campaign funding violations

All the issues above could kick off impeachment proceedings, but there is one more issue that could accelerate the process: Trump is relentless with regard to funding the border wall project, which seeks $5 billion from American taxpayers, and he is unlikely to get anywhere close to that figure.

How Much Caffeine Is Too Much?

How Much Caffeine Is Too Much?

Do you drink just one cup of coffee or tea first thing in the morning, hoping the caffeine in it will jump-start your day? Do you follow it up with a caffeinated beverage or two and then drink several more cups of coffee throughout the day?

Does it matter?

According to scientists at the FDA, caffeine can be part of a healthy diet for most people, but too much caffeine may pose a danger to your health. Depending on factors such as body weight, medications you may take, and individual sensitivity, "too much" can vary from person to person.

Russia Used Social Media for Widespread Meddling in U.S. Politics

By Mark Hosenball

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election on social media was more widespread than previously thought and included attempts to divide Americans by race and extreme ideology, said reports by private experts released on Monday by U.S. senators from both parties.

The Russian government's Internet Research Agency, based in St. Petersburg, Russia, tried to manipulate U.
