White House to Press Forward with Trump's Space Command


WASHINGTON (Reuters) - White House advisers on Tuesday are set to recommend that U.S. President Donald Trump's planned U.S. Space Command develop ways for the military to operate in outer space, according to two administration officials briefed on the plans.

The National Space Council, a White House advisory panel, will also recommend a review of existing treaty issues, and will unveil proposed legislation for Congress to create and fund a separate space agency to oversee commercial activities, the officials said.

U.S. Targets Russian Operatives Ahead of Election


WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States has launched a cyber campaign aimed at Russian operatives in an effort to curb misinformation ahead of the Nov. 6 congressional elections, the New York Times reported on Tuesday, in what it said was the first known such operation to protect American elections.

MAZATLAN, Mexico (Reuters) - Thousands of people were evacuated, buildings were boarded up and schools closed on Mexico's Pacific coast on Tuesday as Hurricane Willa threatened to batter tourist resorts with high winds and heavy rains.

Residents on Monday night sealed off windows and doors with large wooden planks on hotels facing the historic downtown boardwalk of Mazatlan, a popular coastal city in the northwestern state of Sinaloa.

Migrant Caravan Makes Progress and Angers U.S. President

Thousands of men, women and children have crossed the border between Guatemala and Mexico and are now headed north towards the United States, drawing the ire of United States President Donald Trump right in the middle of his political rally tour ahead of midterm elections.
The caravan started with a couple of thousand people marching from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, but it has turned into a massive group estimated to be more than five thousand strong.
