Trump Son-in-Law Expected on Capitol Hill for Russia Testimony

The probe into Russian meddling in the U.S. election crosses into new territory this week as congressional committees seek information from two of Donald Trump's family members, including the president's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who is expected to make the first of two appearances on Capitol Hill Monday.

A man often seen but rarely heard, Kushner is one of President Trump's closest advisers, tasked with pursuing a peace deal in the Middle East and heading an effort to modernize the federal government.

8 People Found Dead in 'Horrific' Smuggling Case in Texas

Police in the southern U.S. state of Texas say eight people have been found dead in the back of a tractor-trailer in what police are calling a horrific case of immigrant smuggling.

San Antonio police chief William McManus said at least 28 survivors, including two school-aged children, were hospitalized early Sunday, 20 in critical condition. McManus called it "a human trafficking crime."

San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood said the survivors likely would not have lasted another night in the trailer, with the city's temperatures Saturday reaching 38 degrees Celsius.




Trump's Position Uncertain as US Congressional Leaders Reach Accord on Russia SanctionsThe U.S. Congress is moving toward adoption of new sanctions against Russia for its interference in the 2016 election, but it was unclear Sunday whether President Donald Trump would sign the legislation.

Anthony Scaramucci, the new White House communications director, told CNN, "You've got to ask President Trump. My guess is he's going to make that decision soon."

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told ABC News "the White House supports where the legislation is now.
