NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Uzbek national accused of killing eight people by driving a speeding truck along a New York City bike path last October spoke of a "war" led by Islamic State at a pre-trial hearing on Friday and dismissed the court's judgment as not important.

Rhode Island Legalizes Sports Betting, Gets 51 Percent of Revenues

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo signed a $9.6 billion budget for fiscal 2019 on Friday that legalizes sports betting and gives the state 51 percent of the revenues from the wagers.

The budget for the fiscal year starting July 1 counts on $23.

4 Arrested in Pittsburgh Protest Calling for Justice after Police Shooting


(Reuters) - A largely peaceful protest in Pittsburgh grew tense on Friday when demonstrators, demanding justice for an unarmed black teenager who was killed by a policeman, blocked traffic and were confronted by police in riot gear, media reported.

Police made four arrests during the hours-long demonstration that wound through the streets of the Steel City as hundreds of protesters blocked intersections and major thoroughfares, disrupting rush-hour and Friday-night traffic, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and a CNN affiliate reported.
