Fourth Northeast U.S. Winter Storm Forces Thousands of Flight Cancellations

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. airlines canceled thousands of flights in the northeast on Wednesday as a swirl of strong winds, snow, sleet and ice from the fourth major storm this month crippled the region.

Airlines have scrapped more than 3,890 flights into and out of the United States, according to flight tracking website FlightAware, and nearly 1,000 other flights were delayed as the latest "nor'easter" dumped snow and ice on major cities such as New York, Philadelphia and Boston.

Suspect in Six Bombings Killed by Police in Texas

After a string of explosive devices killed two people annd injured four others in Austin and San Antonio, law enforcements agents tracked down a prime suspect and engaged him in near a hotel parking lot.
The suspect apparently detonated one device as an officer fired.

Texas Bombing Suspect Blows Self Up as Police Close In


AUSTIN, Texas (Reuters) - The 24-year-old man who terrified residents of Austin, Texas, with a three-week bombing campaign that killed two people blew himself up on the side of a highway north of the city as police closed in on him early Wednesday, police officials said.

Police had tracked the suspect to a hotel near Austin, the state's capital city, and were following his vehicle when he pulled to the side of the road and detonated a device, killing himself, Austin Police Chief Brian Manley told reporters near the scene.

Brother of Florida School Shooting Suspect Held on $500,000 Bail


(Reuters) - A Florida judge ordered the brother of suspected high school shooter Nikolas Cruz to be held on $500,000 bail for a trespassing charge after prosecutors on Tuesday said he had visited the campus three times since the Feb. 14 massacre.

Zachary Cruz, 18, told deputies he went to the campus of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, to "reflect on the school shooting and to soak it in," according to the arrest report.
