A hot July 4th is in store for the U.S.

The July 4th weekend looks set to be dry and settled with limited showers and storms possible throughout the U.S. with the chances of severe weather low across the nation.

Along the Gulf Coast, the risk of storms will extend from Louisiana to Florida with temperatures ranging from the mid-80s to the mid-90s with some pop-up afternoon storms possible.

Both coasts will be dominated by sunshine with the East Coast escaping the majority of the storms and showers that have been seen over the last few days and weeks.




WHO sees first results from COVID drug trials within two weeksThe World Health Organization (WHO) should soon get results from clinical trials it is conducting of drugs that might be effective in treating COVID-19 patients, its Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Friday.

"Nearly 5,500 patients in 39 countries have so far been recruited into the Solidarity trial," he told a news briefing, referring to clinical studies the U.N. agency is conducting.

"We expect interim results within the next two weeks.

Tyler Vilus, 30, was arrested in Turkey five years ago as he prepared to catch a flight to Prague. Prosecutors told the court he wanted to lead the squad of gunmen and suicide bombers which attacked Paris in November 2015, but were unable to prove this.




Colorado police officers fired after photos mocking death of Black man surfaceThree Colorado police officers were fired and a fourth resigned after they shared photographs they took of themselves re-enacting a chokehold officers used to subdue a Black man who later died, authorities said on Friday.

Vanessa Wilson, interim chief of police in the Denver suburb of Aurora, called the officers' actions surrounding the death of Elijah McClain, who was unarmed, "reprehensible."

"I am disgusted to my core," Wilson said at a news conference announcing the firings.

24 Killed After Attack on Mexican Drug Rehabilitation Center

A community center for substance abuse treatment in the state of Guanajuato came under attack on Wednesday, leaving two dozen patients and healthcare workers dead.
 
According to local law enforcement officials, an undetermined number of gunmen forced their way into the facility and executed most of the victims; some were seriously wounded and taken to the hospital.
