CNN's Chris Cuomo suspended over role in ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo's sex scandal

CNN on Tuesday suspended its top news anchor, Chris Cuomo, for his role in defending his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, over sexual harassment allegations.

The cable news channel said in a statement the suspension followed the release of new court documents on Monday.

"These documents point to a greater level of involvement in his brother's efforts than we previously knew. As a result, we have suspended Chris indefinitely, pending further evaluation," CNN said.




U.S. in hypersonic weapon 'arms race' with China -Air Force secretary

The United States and China are engaged in an arms race to develop the most lethal hypersonic weapons, the U.S. Air Force secretary said on Tuesday, as Beijing and Washington build and test more and more of the high-speed next-generation arms.  

"There is an arms race, not necessarily for increased numbers, but for increased quality," Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall told Reuters during an interview in his Pentagon offices. "It's an arms race that has been going on for quite some time.




Three students shot dead, eight people wounded at Michigan high school; suspect arrested

A 15-year-old boy killed three fellow high school students and wounded eight other people upon opening fire with a semi-automatic handgun at a Michigan high school, and he was quickly arrested, police said.

One of those wounded was a teacher and the remainder were students at Oxford High School in Oxford, Michigan, about 40 miles (65 km) north of Detroit, the Oakland County Sheriff's office said.

The motive of the shooter was unknown, officials said.

Tuesday will be a warm and sunny day across most of the nation. The Weather Channel forecasts the only areas of concern will be in the Northeast and the Pacific Northwest. In the Northeast, snow flurries are forecast to remain in place on Tuesday morning and afternoon. The wintry precipitation will not move south into other parts of the East Coast, where temperatures will rise late in the day. Across the nation, the Northwest is forecast to see scattered showers throughout the afternoon.



U.S. CDC says all adults should get COVID-19 booster shots

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said on Monday everyone aged 18 years and older should get a booster shot, as it looks to tackle a new and highly infectious strain of the coronavirus that is quickly spreading across the globe.

The update comes after President Joe Biden on Monday called for wider vaccination to curb the spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant, which was first detected in southern Africa.
