Severe weather moves into the Southwest
The chances of severe weather will move into the Southwest on Monday as tropical moisture appears over Arizona and Southern California. The area of severe weather will act as the starting point for a band of rain and storms that will cut through the Deep South, parts of the Mid-Atlantic, and on into the Northeast.

Despite Monday marking the first day of the Fall, there will be little change to the hot temperatures in the Deep South and Southeast where the 90s will remain in place for most as the late summer heat continues.

Tear Gas Clouds Over Hong Kong and Paris During Weekend Protests

Opposing groups of protesters in Hong Kong violently clashed with riot control units on Saturday, prompting riot control police units to deploy canister after canister of tear gas.

Over the last four months, the protests have unfolded every weekend; while most participants are pro-democracy demonstrators who wish to send a strong message to the People's Republic of China ahead of National Day, which on October 1 will mark the 70th anniversary of rule by the Communist party, minority groups that support the mainland Chinese government are beginning to make their voices heard, and they are clashing against the majority in Hong Kong.

Booker seeks $1.7 million in new funds to stay in Democratic White House race

By David Morgan

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Cory Booker will drop out of the running for his party's 2020 White House nomination unless he can raise $1.7 million over the next 10 days, his campaign said on Saturday.

The mounting scale of rival campaigns and the prospect of higher thresholds for participating in future Democratic debates have forced Booker's campaign to an "inflection point" where it must grow quickly or have no "legitimate long-term path forward," according to campaign manager Addisu Demissie.
