The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost nearly three percent of its value in a volatile Thursday trading session, and investors are bracing for greater losses before the market takes a break for the weekend.
As many economists had feared, United States President Trump stuck with his promise of imposing tariffs on aluminum and steel imports coming from China, a move that would result in $9 billion in revenue this year, but which has a potential to backfire because China is prepared to retaliate with tariffs imposed on live hogs and soybean exported by American farmers.

South Central Storms to Follow a Midwest Storm Over the Weekend

The latest storm to track across the country from the Northwest to the east will begin to push into the Midwest across the course of the weekend to bring Spring snow and rain from the Dakotas to the Ohio and Illinois.

Trump excludes EU, Six Others from Higher Metal Tariffs


WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday temporarily excluded six countries and the European Union from higher import duties on steel and aluminum due to come into effect on Friday.

In a presidential proclamation issued late Thursday, Trump said he would suspended steel tariffs for Argentina, Australia, Brazil, South Korea, Canada, Mexico and the European Union until May 1, 2018 amid ongoing discussions.

Trump Replaces McMaster, Taps Bolton as National Security Adviser

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump shook up his foreign policy team again on Thursday, replacing H.R. McMaster as national security adviser with John Bolton, a hawk who has advocated using military force against North Korea and Iran.

The move, announced in a tweet, came little more than a week after the firing by Trump of Rex Tillerson as secretary of state.
