Merkel Wins Historic Fourth Term But Far-right Populists Surge
Angela Merkel has won a fourth term as Germany's Chancellor in a federal election whose outcome seemed inevitable since the start of campaigning three months ago. But her ruling Christian Democrats got a lower share of the vote than predicted and Germany's far-right populists surged, securing a bigger vote than most pollsters forecast.

The sighting of an Islamic State flag spread fears among residents in Pakistan's capital, prompting authorities to order an investigation of the incident.

"Division general Valeri Assapov was killed when a shell exploded during shelling by IS fighters," the ministry was quoted as saying by local media.

Deir el-Zour province, on Syria's eastern border with Iraq, is rich with oil and gas fields that served as a key revenue stream for IS at the peak of its power.

Trump has angrily denounced players taking part in the protest, which began last year as an individual action by one football player who said he was protesting against disparities in the treatment of racial minorities by U.

2 More Republican Senators Turn Against US Health Care Overhaul
Two more Republican U.S. senators voiced opposition Sunday to the party's latest plan to dismantle nationwide health care policies championed by former Democratic president Barack Obama, crucial votes that could doom the repeal effort this week.

Senator Susan Collins of Maine told CNN she finds it "very difficult" to imagine herself voting to upend the Affordable Care Act, popularly known as Obamacare, but that she was not ready to declare with certainty that she would vote against the repeal effort.
