Top Vatican Cardinal Charged With Sex Offenses in Australia

Australian police charged a top Vatican cardinal Thursday with multiple counts of historical sexual assault offenses, a stunning decision certain to rock the highest levels of the Holy See.

Cardinal George Pell, Pope Francis' chief financial adviser and Australia's most senior Catholic, is the highest-ranking Vatican official to ever be charged in the church's long-running sexual abuse scandal.

Victoria state Police Deputy Commissioner Shane Patton said police have a summons for Pell to appear in an Australian court to face multiple charges of "historical sexual assault offenses," meaning offenses that generally occurred some time ago.




Man Charged in Destruction of Boston Holocaust Memorial

The lawyer for a man charged with throwing a rock through a glass panel at the New England Holocaust Memorial in Boston says her client suffers from mental health issues.

James Isaac, 21, was held Wednesday on charges of willful and malicious destruction of personal property and willful and malicious destruction of a place of a monument.

Police said Isaac smashed the 8.8-foot (2.7-meter) panel about 2 a.m. He was quickly arrested after a witness called police.




Widespread Uncertainty as US Travel Ban Start Looms

One day before President Donald Trump's temporary ban on all refugees and travelers from six predominantly Muslim countries is scheduled to take effect, there is still widespread uncertainty about how the administration will implement it.

The confusion follows a U.S. Supreme Court decision on Monday that allowed the long-delayed executive order to take effect, but significantly narrowed its scope. It exempted travelers and refugees who have a "bona fide relationship" with a person or entity in the United States.

Publix Super Markets is issuing a voluntary recall for Publix Tropical Medley Mix because it may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes.




After 2018 in NYC, Grammys Will Return to LAThe 2018 Grammy Awards will be held in New York City, but the show will return to Los Angeles for four years beginning in 2019.

The Recording Academy announced Wednesday it signed a four-year deal with the AEG entertainment company to host the show at the Staples Center.

The academy says the show brings an estimated economic benefit of $82 million to Los Angeles each year it is held.

The upcoming Grammy Awards will mark its 60th anniversary when it takes place at Madison Square Garden on Jan.
