Snow moves into the northern states

Tuesday will bring more wintry weather to the Northern States of the U.S. with the arrival of more snow in North Dakota and the Upper Midwest.

There will be a range of unsettled conditions moving through the Plains and the Midwest that will extend into the Northeast where showers and pop-up storms will be seen.

From the Mid-Atlantic to the Southeast, there will be mostly clear skies on Tuesday with a few showers throughout the day in Florida.

U.S. Supreme Court to hear Trump appeal of ruling against border wall fundsThe U.S. Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear an appeal by President Donald Trump's administration of a ruling that he overstepped his constitutional powers by diverting military funds to pay for his promised wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

At issue is the legality of the president's decision, after Congress refused to appropriate money he sought for the wall, to shift other funds already provided by lawmakers for other purposes.

The Justice Department appealed a lower court's June 26 decision that Trump's administration lacked the authority to shift the military funds toward the border project because the so-called Appropriations Clause of the U.

While many countries in Europe and some in the Americas are experiencing a second contagion wave of SARS-CoV-2, the United States seems to be stuck in a first wave that keeps getting worse.
 
The highest number of COVID-19 cases since the summer was reported on Friday with 69,000 individuals testing positive, and this does not take into account suspected cases who may have come into contact with those who were confirmed.



Pandemic expected to push poorer Americans out of banking systemMany poorer Americans will struggle to keep a foothold in the banking system due to economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic after years of increasing access, a U.S. banking regulator said on Monday.

A new report from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) found that in 2019 just 5.4% of Americans lacked a checking or savings account, the lowest level recorded by the decade-old survey.

But the watchdog warned that economic havoc wrought by the pandemic could push many struggling Americans, who were already hovering at the fringes, out of the traditional banking system altogether.
