Shootings Reported on Thanksgiving Day

Ten people were killed in the days before Americans gathered to celebrate Thanksgiving, and the violence continued in the hours before families gathered for the traditional dinner.

In Mississippi, officers from the Tupelo police department responded to a shooting that critically wounded a man; in West Virginia, a man was arrested for the fatal shooting of a 41-year-old man in the town of Raysal; in Tennessee, a Fayette County Sheriff's deputy was shot while responding to a robbery incident.

Amidst all these shootings, United States President Donald Trump confirmed that the White House authorized soldiers deployed to the southern border to use lethal force if needed while confronting a migrant caravan arriving from Central America.

Black Friday Sales Could Generate Sales in Excess of One Trillion Dollars

More than 160 million Americans plan to take advantage of the massive Black Friday retail event, which this year could bring more than $1 trillion in sales.

Financial forecasts suggest that sales this year will be 5.5 percent higher than last year, and three retail store chains will be hoping that Black Friday will be able to ease their debt struggles: J.C. Penney, Sears and Neiman Marcus have experienced a terrible year because of shoppers gravitating towards specialty stores and e-commerce platforms.

U.S. President Highlights Lower Gas Prices and the Importance of Good Relations With Saudi Arabia

According to United States President Donald Trump, crude oil barrels going for $54 are like a "big tax cut" for the world, and they underscore the need for diplomatic ties with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Speaking from this Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Trump dismissed CIA reports about the involvement of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who appears to have ordered the heinous killing of Jamal Khashoggi for the purpose of silencing his investigative work into the use of chemical weapons by the Kingdom in the ongoing Yemen Civil War.

American officials have been quietly pushing for a ceasefire agreement in Yemen, and they may scale back support for Saudi forces in the region.

Very Old Floppy Disks Found Aboard International Space Station Before Thanksgiving

While doing a bit of house cleaning before Thanksgiving, crew members of the ISS discovered a vinyl folder filled with floppy disks labeled Norton Utilities for Windows 95; it is believed that the disks were left behind by the first manned mission to the station in the year 2000.

The current German, American and Russian crew members celebrated Thanksgiving with vacuum-sealed meal packets and a video conference with loved ones on Earth.

NBA Superstar Lebron James Returned to Cleveland With Victory

Unlike his 2010 return to the Quicken Loans Arena, Lebron James was warmly welcomed and hailed as a hero as the Los Angeles Lakers came away with a 109-105 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

James scored 32 points and was cheered by fans, a far cry from the time when he returned to Cleveland with the Miami Heat; back then, NBA security official considered asking the Heat to send James to the locker room before the end of the game and protect him from rowdy fans as he left the arena.

Both Lakers and Cavaliers are currently struggling in their respective conferences.
