Sunday Morning Asteroid Poses No Threat to Earth
Astronomers dedicated to the detection of celestial objects that may strike our planet have been very busy in 2018.
The latest observation by Northolt Branch Observatories in London involves 2018 WV1, a small asteroid first detected by astronomers in Arizona on November 29.
Less than a day later, British scientists gave this asteroid a 2 percent probability of striking the Earth in early December, but this was revised hours later. As the situation stands, the closest that this space rock, which is about the size of a small office building, will get to Earth is more than 20,000 miles.
This is the third object found in close proximity to our planet this year. It should be noted that researchers believe 2018 WV1 may be an ancient fragment of the Moon.

The cooperation provided to the Office of Special Counsel by disgraced New York attorney Michael Cohen should keep him out of jail; such is the gist of a sentencing memorandum filed by his attorneys in federal court on Friday afternoon.
Even though Cohen's testimony has not been published, court filings indicate that he has confessed to the crime of lying to Congress for the purpose of protecting United States President Donald Trump; furthermore, during his seven meetings with the Special Counsel, Cohen revealed that his legal team briefed Trump's attorneys on what was being discussed.
Should Cohen's request be granted, the President will have more to worry about with regard to the investigation.
