U.S. female voters could decide November presidential elections
With 10 days to go before voters elect the next president of the United States, general opinion polls suggest that former President Donald Trump and Vice President Harris are locked into a dead heat in various battleground states.
Focused surveys, however, indicate that American women will likely break the tie and elect VP Harris. According to a poll commissioned by CBS News, Trump is in trouble with 53% of female voters who are vowing not to vote for him. Another poll conducted by USA Today shows that the number of women who would consider voting for Trump has sharply declined since 2016. It should be noted that the Trump campaign recently held a town hall event for women, and it largely backfired.
Terrorist Attack in Israel Leaves One Death and Many Critically Injured Victims
In the hours following a major Israeli airstrike against missile plants in Iran, a truck slammed into a bus terminal at the Gilot Junction north of Tel Aviv. One person was killed and 39 were injured, including seven who are under intensive care conditions. The driver was shot and killed by police officers who were following the truck as it approached a regional base of the Israeli Defense Forces; he abruptly drove into the bus terminal upon suspecting he was being monitored. According to a report from the Jerusalem Post, the incident is being investigated as an act of terrorism. A similar attack killed eight people in Tel Aviv earlier this month. Meanwhile, Iranian leaders reiterated their intention to respond to the Israeli airstrikes, which caused significant damage to missile facilities and air defense systems across the Islamic Republic.
Wall Street Investors Anticipate End of S&P 500 Rally
One of the most prominent stock indexes on Wall Street has been in rally mode since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, but that bullish sentiment could start winding now in November. According to a MarketWatch analysis, the prospect of lower interest rates will keep the S&P 500 from turning bearish as institutional investors adjust their portfolios. The presidential election and the possibility of a Santa Claus rally may also keep the S&P 500 away from a full market correction. Technology giants that have invested heavily in artificial intelligence ventures stand to lose the most during this soft correction; this is because the AI sector has been succumbing to its own hype. The high consumer inflation and sluggish wage growth in the United States have been extending across the Americas, particularly in regions where hundreds of S&P 500 companies operate.
