Human remains found in Florida park amid search for Gabby Petito's fiance -FBI

Partial human remains were found on Wednesday in a Florida wilderness area where authorities were searching for Brian Laundrie, the fiance of Gabby Petito, a young woman who vanished on a road trip with Laundrie, the FBI said on Wednesday.

The Sarasota County Medical Examiner's Office was called on Wednesday morning to the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park where the search for Laundrie was under way, a spokesperson for the office said earlier.




U.S. Republicans say fixing supply chain is more urgent than social spending

A group of 160 Republican lawmakers said addressing supply chain woes that have dramatically slowed the manufacture and shipment of goods around the United States must be fixed before considering new spending on social programs, according to a letter sent to President Joe Biden on Wednesday.   

"We urge you to call on your congressional allies to halt discussions on a budget reconciliation bill that aims to reshape the social fabric of this country and instead work on real infrastructure solutions that focus on moving goods and people safely and efficiently," said the letter signed by lawmakers including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Representative Sam Graves, the ranking member on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and others.

Terrorism threat to UK lawmakers substantial after colleague murder -Patel

British interior minister Priti Patel said on Wednesday that the terrorism threat level to members of parliament was now deemed substantial, days after lawmaker David Amess was stabbed to death at a public meeting in his constituency.

It means the direct threat to politicians is the same as the overall national threat level, which means an attack is considered likely.

"The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC) has conducted an independent review on the risk facing members of parliament," Patel told parliament.




Unsettled conditions spread through the U.S.

There are several areas of unsettled conditions forecast to move through the U.S. The unsettled conditions will continue along the West Coast and spread from the Pacific Northwest to Northern California. Cool air will remain from the Rockies to the Midwest, with high temperatures hitting the mid-60s in the Central Plains.

The band of rain moving inland on Wednesday will form a line of rain and pop-up storms. The rain will spread from the Gulf Coast to the Northeast.
