Breonna Taylor's family demands to see Kentucky grand jury evidenceA lawyer for Breonna Taylor's family on Friday demanded Kentucky's state attorney general release the evidence presented to a grand jury that decided against charging police officers with homicide in her death during a botched raid.

Protests erupted in Louisville and several other U.S. cities following the announcement on Wednesday that the grand jury would not bring murder charges against three police officers involved in the March 13 shooting of Taylor in her home during the execution of a search warrant.

Teenager charged with killing two Kenosha protesters fights extraditionKyle Rittenhouse, the teenager charged with killing two protesters and injuring another during demonstrations about race and justice in Kenosha, Wisconsin, will fight extradition from Illinois, his lawyer told a court hearing on Friday.

Rittenhouse, 17, has been charged by Kenosha County's district attorney with six criminal counts in connection with the shooting of three people who tried to subdue or disarm him during protests on Aug. 25, two of whom died.




A dry and warm weekend across the U.S.

The relief from wildfires that have been pushing into the Pacific Northwest for the past few days will come to an end over the weekend as a band of warm, dry air takes its place on the West Coast.
 
Some showers will linger close to the coast of the Northwest, but Washington and Oregon will not see the widespread rain of the last few days. Across the nation, the East Coast will see the last remnants of Tropical Storm Beta moving out into the Atlantic Ocean with some showers lingering from the Carolinas to the Mid-Atlantic.



Democrats prepare bill limiting U.S. Supreme Court justice terms to 18 yearsDemocrats in of the House of Representatives will introduce a bill next week to limit the tenure of U.S. Supreme Court justices to 18 years from current lifetime appointments, in a bid to reduce partisan warring over vacancies and preserve the court's legitimacy.

The new bill, seen by Reuters, would allow every president to nominate two justices per four-year term and comes amid heightened political tensions as Republican President Donald Trump prepares to announce his third pick for the Supreme Court after the death on Sept.




Justice Department asks judge to allow U.S. to bar WeChat from U.S. app storesThe U.S. Justice Department asked a federal judge in San Francisco on Friday to allow the government to bar Apple Inc <AAPL.O> and Alphabet Inc's Google <GOOGL.O> from offering WeChat for download in U.S. app stores pending an appeal.

The filing asked U.S. Magistrate Judge Laurel Beeler to put on hold her preliminary injunction issued Saturday. That injunction blocked the U.S. Commerce Department order which was set to take effect late on Sept.
